Today I’m starting a two-day detox: Mireille Guiliano’s Magical Leek Soup to be exact. I am not good with detoxes. I tried Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP detox, and after spending $90 I lost interest after three days. (I commend Gwyneth’s will power. A week is a long time.) My earliest memory of detoxing involved my mother forced me to drink senna tea (the thought of the smell still makes me a little queasy). So you know things are pretty serious if I think I need to go that route.
What prompted the detox? My jeans are a little too snug. And my shirts. Heck even my sweaters are tight. I wanted to blame the dryer for shrinking everything, but then I had to take an honest assessment of my lifestyle. The confession: I haven’t been following an exercise regime for the last three months… Ok, four, and I’ve been indulging in a lot of “let’s meet up” cocktails. Too much socialization makes a single chef a chubby, chubby girl.
So today, I begin anew. And I think I’ll be successful, though I’ll need to lay low-I have a feeling I may be a bit grumpy until my meal on Sunday. Wish me luck!
