Today I planted my herbs: sweet basil, Genovese basil, purple basil, Siam Queen basil (I do so love basil), dill, lavender, oregano, Italian parsley, rosemary, sage, and thyme. But I don’t have a backyard because I’m an city dweller. So I used my Aerogarden, a hydroponic system-which I love. I have two.
The past two years, I’ve used the seed kits they provided, but this year, I wanted more control over my herbs. So I purchased the Master Gardener Kit (AeroGarden – Seed Kits). The packet came and labels, nutrient packets, and seed sponges everywhere (a bit of a mess). But I organized everything:

Lined up my seeds and my labels. (Note the exercise mat in the background. Damn you Tony Horton!) Then I measured out the seeds:
And I put three seeds into each seed sponge:
Placed the seed sponge in the little plastic holder:
And then I covered all of my future seedlings with plastic caps:
Filled the tank with water and nutrients:
Plugged it in, and ta-da:
My city garden has been planted. Since this is my first self-planted herb garden, I’m curious to see what will happen. I’ll post updates as the garden grows.
