Last weekend my friends Dawn H., Dawn L., and I threw a baby shower for our friends Ardie and Adam. Ardie and Adam (nicknamed the A Team) are a fantastic couple: cool, funny and hip, and their baby is going to be just as hip, so the average baby shower would not do! We opted for an autumn theme, and planned a grownup-friendly brunch. Ardie’s favorite meal is brunch so the guests made all of their favorite brunch specials:
We had a delicious mushroom quiche, chicken satay, shrimp with a ass-kicking cocktail sauce, pop-overs, a tomato and olive strata, eggplant gratin, and a truly sick monkey bread! Umm-ummm monkey bread! I’m going to steal this one from my friend, Jesse – who hosted the shower with his wife Andrea in their awesome building. This was the spread with a slideshow of Ardie and Adam in the background:
And the room where we ate and opened presents:
Grownup, yet baby friendly! We all marveled at the luminous Ardie, and her ability to balance a rubber ducky on her belly:
We were also fascinated by this lamb:
Absolutely fascinated! Enthralled! Bewitched!
This was a unisex shower… but most of the men were camera shy. Or busty taking photos (like Sean). Here’s the proud papa!
And me and the mama!
And a final shot of the flowers that came from the mythical flower district.
A beautiful shower! For a beautiful couple! Congrats on the newest member of the A Team, Ardie and Adam!
